To share or not to share

by Marian Heddesheimer

This morning, when I browsed through my google reader entries, I found this interesting blog post:

http://www.theoutsourcingcompany.com/blog/internet-marketing/5-internet-marketing-ideas-to-double-your-sales/

The authors says in his first tip, that you should share all your knowledge to get more customers. He also says that many people are afraid of sharing their knowledge because they don't want to give it away for free.

With all the existing Web 2.0 services and applications (and WizIQ is one of them), what do you think about that? Many teachers share their knowledge here and also on other platforms like youTube or in podcasts.

Do you use Web 2.0 for creating your own content to share your knowledge with others? If yes, tell us about it. Where can we find your content?

Or do you just use Web 2.0 to benefit from other people's knowledge? I think it's okay to do that, not everyone has time and talent to create their own content. If you do, please tell us about that too. Where did you find valuable information that helped you in your life, your business or at work.

thanks for sharing this Cherry. I fully agree with you that free information should help to get paying customers.

Thanks Marian for sharing, and thanks Cherry for your insight in which I totally agree! Sharing information is of great value to get future paying customers while building the "Know" Like" and "Trust" factor as too many people have been scammed in the past.

Free information is a teaser and introduction, people will not pay what you are trying to sell unless they try it and feel it might be worth. Am i right?a person's expertise and knowledge is not supposed to be free, because he makes effort on learning and even pay for the courses and books,he teaches people to shorten their time that they have to spend on self studying, since time is money, why not get paid by teaching others.

Yes, i do use web2.2 to create content and share with people, some are free, some are not, including my class on wiziq, my presentation, ebooks, videos. Many good teachers on youtube, they do it for free and give themselves a chance to show case their knowledge, so people will be directed to teacher's website, then they will go through a process from visitors to customers, eventually the teacher get paid but it provided the teacher's website has something to sell.

I find valuable information from many different ways, but first thing first is I must know how i want to do, then I start taking action, when i have problem, i search answer from google and find some website provide valuable information, usually it is blog, then i subscribe to the RSS feed so that i can continue learning from that website. Usually i can find the answer through google by myself , otherwise I will try to raise my questions on social media or forum or to my friends.

Good topic and questions Marian!
